Pilot Plant Operations Technician

If so, join Syre's technology team as a Pilot Plant Operations Technician - where you will be responsible for preparing materials and operating process equipment to chemically recycle polyester textile waste from apparel, automotive, and home furnishings back into new textiles. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a team that is developing and scaling game changing technology. You will be responsible for preparing feedstock and reagents and operating pilot scale chemical processing equipment while maintaining a safe and organized facility environment as part of a team. Key tasks and responsibilities
- Perform hands-on Operations work of pilot scale chemical processes, including preparing large-scale feedstock and reagents; monitoring process control panels; operating and adjusting process equipment; and safely handling materials throughout day-to-day operations
- Monitor and document process conditions via various instrument readings and electronic data acquisition
- Conduct routine plant operational tests
- Communicate observations and conclusions clearly in verbal and written formats
- Ensure plant equipment is maintained and functioning properly
- Operate equipment for shipping, receiving, and warehousing of raw materials and product (fork truck, pallet jack)
- Adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Maintain an organized and safe facility environment, adhering to all workplace safety requirements. Safety is a condition of employment
- Additional operational support of the team as needed
- Work collaboratively as part of an international interdisciplinary team
We would prefer if you have/are
- High school diploma required with some post high school education (e.g. trade school, community college, or university curriculum) or significant demonstrated on-the-job hands on operational experience
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and able to meet physical demands of the role
- Fork truck experience preferred
- Proven track record of workplace safety
- Ability to work independently with demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and Powerpoint and ability to learn other software tools
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team environment
- Are fluent in English both orally and in writing (professional English required)
You will be reporting to our Scientific Implementation Officer and location is Greater Raleigh, North Carolina site.
