Chemical Process Simulation & Optimization Engineer
Textile waste is a growing global challenge. Syre’s mission is to decarbonize and dewaste textiles, starting with the world's biggest fiber, polyester. By implementing true textile-to-textile recycling at hyperscale, we want to drive the transition from a linear to a circular value chain by putting textile waste to use, over and over again.
Are you excited by the thought of contributing to the great textile shift? And, by truly being part of the green change? Then keep on reading, because Syre is now looking for someone with experience of process and plant design optimization. Your primary task will be to optimize a multi-unit operation chemical manufacturing process at pilot and commercial scales. This role reports to the Plant Projecting & Engineering Director.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Create, develop and implement models and simulations of various chemical process unit operations.
- Use simulation software (such as Aspen) to analyze and enhance chemical processes for better performance, including recommend process design upgrades or operating condition changes.
- Align process simulation and optimization goals with company objectives, create best practices, and track performance metrics (KPIs) to improve simulation and modeling efficiency.
- Continuous improvements - find opportunities to improve processes, suggest changes to boost efficiency, cut costs, and meet regulations.
- Conduct safety assessments to evaluate risks of process changes or plant modifications.
- Collaborate with other engineers, researchers, and vendors to contribute to new software tools and techniques for simulation. (Experience with AI and/or digital twins)
Key Qualifications
- Proven experience in chemical engineering, data analysis and software, plus relevant chemical engineering or equivalent educational background.
- 5+ years of experience in industrial process simulation and modeling.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills in an advanced chemical process environment.
- Impact-oriented with a strong drive to get things done, deliver results, and optimize for speed globally (= start-up experience and mentality).
- High ambitions with a constant drive for excellence, daring to challenge the status quo.
- Purpose-driven mentality, with a clear mission and passion for driving environmental change.
We would prefer if you
- Have a good understanding of chemical plant operations, including feed stock, process efficiency and mass/energy balances.
- Are fluent in English both orally and in writing (professional English required).
